14th September, 2009IBC 2009 provided the opportunity for senior members of Vericast's management team to meet up with some of the industry's big hitters, and forge links with some of the newer players in DAB. Following IBC, it is understood that the UK's biggest DAB infrastructure provider, Arqiva, will be upgrading their existing monitoring equipment and that they will deal directly with Vericast in future concerning their DAB monitoring needs. Managing Director Duncan Mackay comments, "It was great to touch base with some familiar faces at IBC, and even better to establish ourselves as a direct vendor for the first time. Arqiva in particular stand out as a firm that takes their DAB network monitoring seriously, and we're delighted that they wish to roll-out an upgrade to their ETI Monitor systems. As far as we're concerned, customers don't come more important than Arqiva, and it's a real boon for us that they wish to upgrade." Vericast also explored leads into other areas of the broadcast sector, and believe they are now on the cusp of their first broadcast system. Business development manager Mark Huntington adds, "It looks like DenMux is making the leap from the test engineering world back into the broadcast market. We're not at liberty to discuss who or where right now, but it's looking like a done-deal. DenMux Pro will be a reality by January - Vericast will be offering DAB/DAB+/DMB encoding and multiplexing for less than £15K; for the smaller broadcaster, nothing comes close. If anyone's making DAB accessible from an infrastructure point of view, it's us." Vericast expects to make further announcements following the interest at IBC.
